Two residents of yishuvim were arrested on by military police on Monday 12 Shevat, suspected of perpetrating a ‘price tag’ attack in the Bakum induction base. The two were in the base a number of days ago to complete forms as part of their induction process.
According to one report, the two in custody told officials they refuse to serve in the IDF based on their ideological beliefs. They deny any connection to price tag graffiti found on the base. One of the defendants is reportedly related to a very well known senior official in the yishuv movement.
Honenu attorney Adi Kedar, who is defending the suspects points out he hopes the IDF has not resulted to making political arrests based on his clients’ ideology.
One hundred dati leumi rabbonim signed a petition against price tag attacks calling them a major Chilul Hashem. Among the signatories are Rabbi David Stav, Rabbi Yisrael Rosen, Rabbi Avichai Ronsky and Rabbi Elyakim Levanon.
