Speaking with Galei Tzahal (Army Radio), Minister of Intelligence & Strategic Affairs Dr. Yuval Steinitz admits the situation surrounding negotiations with the PA (Palestinian Authority) is problematic. “There will not be a true solution with the Palestinians” he explained.
He described Israel’s political as being “between the hammer and the anvil. If there is no agreement, then Israel will eat straw from the Europeans and if an agreement is reached, we will eat Palestinian gravel. In the event that an agreement is signed, rockets will be launched into Israel and there is a chance we will have to retake Shechem and Jenin and there will be political and security difficulties.”
The minister’s statements are his response to mounting US pressure on Israel to make additional concessions to the PA.
