Arab MKs Reject Foreign Minister Lieberman’s Land Swap Plan

liebForeign Minister Avigdor Lieberman quite some time ago announced his land swap plan, to give predominately Arab areas of Israel to the PA (Palestinian Authority) in a peace agreement while maintaining control over areas being demanded by the PA today, areas of Yehuda and Shomron. Lieberman is referring to The Triangle, which includes areas like Nachal I’ron (Wadi Ara), Um el-Fahm and many more municipalities which are overwhelming Israeli Arab. His idea of some time ago is now on the agenda of some lawmakers, who suggest pushing the plan in talks with the PA.

The Arab MKs however knows how to the play the game and they are not about to agree to a plan that is viewed as favorable by Israel. MK Dr. Ahmed Tibi called the plan now supported by other MKs “delusional”. He said such a plan would never be accepted.

MK Dr. Afou Agbaria explained citizens of Israel are not chess pieces nor are they hostages of the government. He explains that if Israel decides it is willing to withdraw to the pre-June ’67 borders, they too will be happy to comply.

Perhaps sending a message to Israel on how to act, MK Masud Ganaim speaks of the Arab “birthright” and how that area is their “legitimate home”. He added that the residents of The Triangle cannot be compared to “settlers in the West Bank that lack legitimacy of legal status”.

  1. It should be noted that Israeli Arabs tend to be quite happy to be Israeli rather than Palestinian citizens, and that many are either Christian or secular and would be bad off under an Islamic state. Based on a percentage of the population, the Arabs should be elected between 20 and 25 members of the parlianment, but the Arabs parties get only 10 seats — meaning most Israeli Arabs support continued zionist rule.

  2. #1 “meaning most Israeli Arabs support continued zionist rule.”

Low arab voter turnout. They are like your neturi karta friends, and don’t vote in protest.

  3. The Arab MKs are largely elected by Arabs (the communists get some Jewish votes and have a Jewish MK). It appears that most Arabs prefer Jewish parties. Remember that for a Christian or secular Muslim Arab, the worst thing that could happen is an Islamist regime coming to power.

How the Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza feel is unknown since they don’t have a free press or free elections.

#3- under the Israeli system, all MKs represent all Israelis. There is only one electoral district.

  4. Stop swapping the more you give the more Arabs want if this if that then you give noting It is not Arab land you can go to any Arab country if you don’t like and take the US along they can give the state of Illinois for a country
