Despite the abundance of rain and snowfall in December 2013, the level of the Kinneret only increased by 11 centimeters as opposed to an increase of 50 centimeters in December 2012. The reason is most of the rainfall was in the center of the country, not the northern areas.
The Kinneret’s water level rose by eleven centimeters during December to 211.29 meters below sea level at the end of the month, after falling by nine centimeters in November. The Kinneret’s water level rose by 50 centimeters in December 2012. The Kinneret’s water level is now 1.71 meters above the lower red line and 2.49 meters below the upper red line.
The water level of the Dead Sea rose by three centimeters during December to 427.82 meters below sea level at the beginning of January, after falling by eight centimeters in November. The Dead Sea’s water level fell by eleven centimeters in December 2012.

This actually looks like a good thing. The rain in the central areas will refill the aquifers there and it also avoids the need to open the dams to reduce the level of the Kinneret.
