Young Israel To The New York Post: Your Abhorrent Headline Warrants A Heartfelt Apology

starkThe National Council of Young Israel issued the following statement today regarding the controversial New York Post cover which displayed the image of a slain individual from Brooklyn’s Orthodox Jewish community next to the phrase “Who didn’t want him dead?:

“The National Council of Young Israel condemns The New York Post in the strongest terms possible for its incomprehensible decision to publish an offensive and despicable headline in conjunction with the brutal murder of Menachem Stark.

As a grieving family struggled to come to grips with the sudden and tragic loss of a loved one, The New York Post displayed a callous indifference to any semblance of human decency when they printed such a shocking and sickening cover targeting the deceased.

In light of its incomprehensible and inexcusable actions, we call upon The New York Post to issue an immediate and heartfelt apology, not just to all New Yorkers, but to the Stark family for needlessly adding to their pain as they buried their child, husband, and father.”

  1. The real problem here is not the new york post , thats ancillary to the larger issue, the real problem is an inability of ” jewish leadership ” to say that unethical behavior and destroying peoples lives financially is unaceptable and that such behavior will lead to horrible consequences, but both the yeshivos and mosdos have one agenda, as long as the money is coming in nothing else matters, how about one jewish leader saying that we need to have a focus on moral and ethical behavior. the bottom line is there is no jewish leadership, and so we have this horrible crime committed against a fellow jew probably orchestrated by a busines transaction that went south, and what is jewish leadership going to say if they find out another jew is involved, they will say nothing and cover it up. So now every jewish orginization has to jump on the bash the post wagon, pathetic

  2. #1: Sorry, I am not sure where you are getting your information from. Is it The NY Post or is it FailedMassiah. Either way, you have chosen to allign yourself with a people who may not have any other value than shedding light on what you are all about. But suppose you are absolutely correct about every word, is now really the time to voice your concerns?

  3. To 3
Only now will people take it serious.
It is such a Rachmunos on today’s youth who can never hear from their Rabbonim these words.
“Be ethical and moral to all people and ethnicities, and you will be respected by us exactly the same as that big Geveier that’s giving us the big bucks. Our real Nachas from our Talmidum is when they do business with 100% Yashrus when dealing with Yidden & Non-Yidden”.

  4. actually #3 now is the time to speak up about this, because like every problem in the jewish community this will be glossed over. Every jewish child in every cheder should be told that unscrupulious behavior can lead to diasterous outcomes. If we create this notion that people are tzadikim no matter what their behavior then what will occur to these children , simple they will follow by example, this is not an anti semetic issue that anything goes as long as the money ends up in some jewish instittion
