As part of its end-of-year coverage, Yediot Achronot at the end of 2013 polled readers to determine what they feel was the outgoing year’s most significant headline. They were asked to select between 12 headline pages appeared on the Yediot Achronot Facebook page, including President Obama’s visit to Israel, the blizzard, the petira of Rav Ovadia, Lapid’s growing popularity, the new governor of the Bank of Israel, the death of a star, the indictment of another star, the acquittal of Avigdor Lieberman, the death of songwriter/performer Arik Einstein, Prisoner X, flooding and President Peres’ 90th birthday.
The petira of Maran came in first place, with over 1,120 votes. Second place was the headline covering the death of Arik Einstein, with only 500 votes.
