Israel’s lead negotiator in talks with the PA (Palestinian Authority), Justice Minister Tzipi Livni is adamantly opposed to the bill seeking to annex the Jordan Valley to Israel. Livni feels Israel continues to “bury its head in the sand” and the “entire country is disconnected from the international reality”.
Speaking to participants at the Kalkalist Conference, Livni explained that despite the event being an economic conference, she is compelled to address the negotiations with the PA. She told the audience that all the economic plans are insignificant “if they ignore the conflict. The Palestinian conflict is the glass ceiling of the Israeli economy.”
She mentioned the boycotts against Israel that she believes will only escalate, and the paradoxical policies of the government that announces it supports a two-state solution but continues construction in Yehuda and Shomron. In reference to the Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu she called his policies “the dark side of democracy”.
