An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richer scale was felt in parts of Israel on Shabbos afternoon 25 Teves 5774, at 5:21 PM. The epicenter of the quake was in Antalya, a city on the Mediterranean coast of southwestern Turkey.
The experts report the earthquake was 51km (30 miles) in the Mediterranean and it was felt 80km (48 miles) SE of Antalya and 204km (126 miles) NW of the city. Officials in the Israel Seismological Institute report the quake was felt in Israel in Haifa and the Krayot and it was followed by 12 aftershock tremors measuring 2-3 on the Richter scale one measuring 4.5.
