07:46 AM IL: Two katyusha rockets landed in open areas in northern Israel earlier this morning, Sunday, 26 Teves 5774. Residents in Metula reported hearing loud explosions at about 7:20 AM.
Security officials are addressing the attack, which appears to have originated in Lebanon. Government officials continue to warn Israel’s enemies that attacks into Israel will not be tolerated and the response will be significant.

8:00 AM IL: Lebanese media is reporting that two additional rockets were fired at northern Israel this morning but they landed short of their intended target, impacting in southern Lebanon.
8:55 AM IL: The IDF has retaliated with artillery fire into southern Lebanon with a Lebanese media source reporting the IDF landed in agricultural fields. UNIFIL forces in the area have reported moved to alert status. Schools in the Metula and other northern areas will be open on a regular schedule despite the attacks.
10:11 AM IL: About 30% of parents of students attending schools in the Metula area opted to keep their children home today following the launching of katyusha rockets into Israel. It is now confirmed that five rockets were fired into Israel with at least two falling short, landing in S. Lebanon.
Authorities feel the attack was not launched by Hizbullah, which is currently “too busy” on other fronts to seek renewed confrontation with Israel, Israel Radio reports.
