MK Rav Yisrael Eichler of the Yahadut Hatorah party equated the Jerusalem District Court decision disqualifying the Beit Shemesh elections with “the Egyptian dictatorial rule”.
Eichler added “this just proves there is no difference between the Egyptian dictatorial rule and Israeli law”. He added “The day will come when the secularist regime will declare chareidim illegal as is done in Egypt. We will win the reelection too!”

“The day will come when the secularist regime will declare chareidim illegal as is done in Egypt. We will win the reelection too!”
Chareidim are illegal in Egypt? Does he mean to equate his ideology with that of the Muslim Brotherhood?
Anyway Eichler has already informed us that all Chareidim will be moving to America to avoid the draft so the above fear of his will probably never materialize.
That’s just simply too much. Show some civility.
It was a close race, and there was solid evidence of vote fraud. Even if you don’t like the court decision, calling for a new election is NOT the same as a dictatorship.
This kind of talk is bad for Israel and bad for the Jews.
Yes I agree, you will win if you won the first time fairly!
Mk Eichler, it is quite different to call for NEW ELECTIONS when fraud & irregularities are found to……calling all Charedim illegal.
You lose credibility when speaking this way!!
first of all, if you won fair and square, you have nothing to worry about. If you cheated, then you have something to worry about.
However more than this you should be eager to clear you besmirched name and reputation, does that have no importance to you or just being in power is what talks to you.
Chillul HaShem is the worst of all averot.
Actually, he is right. But since they are redoing elections I really hope that they are super vigilant on the areas of Sheinfeld, Nofei Aviv, Givat Sharett etc.. as THEY have been desperate to get rid of the mayor since the minute he walked into office !!! I am for sure voting Abutbul again.. he did so much for this city. Shame on the courts!!
chareidirbs:
It doesn’t really matter whether the court decision is right or wrong. MK Eichler’s statement is so inflammatory that it’s a problem. Statements like that cause hatred between Jews which can last for years.
And this man is a chaver Knesset? I believe that many of our problems are a direct result of having incompetent Knesset leaders. As all the previous commenters wrote he is so way out of line in his comments. If the Charedim did not cheat they should be happy that they can prove to the world that they won fair and square. After so many forged election cards were discovered in the mass arrests the world thinks he won by cheating – how lucky the mayor is to prove that deserved to win. ( To me it looks like the MK is admitting he knows they cheated)
MK Eichler’s outrageous arguments have been raising hackles in Israel since his TV days in ‘Popolitica’ in which he acted as Tomi Lapid’s charedi debating opponent (and which raised Mr. Lapid to fame and political fortune). Over the years he has caused immense chilul hashem with his foolish comments and caused the charedi tzibbur untold damage. Clearly, he has learned nothing from his multitude of mistakes.
Shame !
A technique of the psychological war against those who are real jews
The is the First Revote in 65 years of the STATE!
For example
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THIS (it was IMMEDIATELY HUSHED UP):
“In his press conference on Tuesday 16 Adar 5773, Bayit HaYehudi leader Naftali Bennett explained “unfortunately we are not immune” in addressing allegations of voter fraud in his party’s primary election race. Bennett has also been addressing the ongoing police investigation on his Facebook page.
The news of possible voter fraud involving veteran NRP MK Nissim Slomiansky seems to be snowballing, and Bayit Yehudi is in the midst of the election fraud storm. Bennett has admitted that during the primary election period he had suspicions of inappropriate activities, which led him to hire a private investigator. He adds that the issues were addressed and correct, and in his effort to exhibit an air of transparency, he added that “thousands of voter ballots were tossed” to make sure any ballot that was questionable was not counted.
Police seem to feel there is sufficient evidence to push the case against Slomiansky, who continues to maintain his innocence, expressing his commitment to cooperate with police in any way possible, confident of his innocence. Nevertheless, what has so many people baffled is the fact that Slomiansky, who presents the old guard National Religious Party was not only successful in landing a realistic slot on the party ticket, but he came in first place against many of the more popular newer generation MKs..”
Unbelievable !
In every election during the years of and prior to the medina BAR NONE,there HAS been and is Fraud, going back at least to ’31,when Jabotinzky himself stood up and tore up his Zionist membership card in disgust at the Mapai’s machinations!
When Will they redo all those votes?!
The Marxist scoffing at law,and the policy of Power justify any means, has been part and parcel of the State atmosphere,
means that for decades vote tampering (by the Mizrachi) or worse by the Labor/Left was laudable as long as it remained hush
The war against the real religious is continuing forward particularly psychological.
We’re more than content to have had an immediate vote recount,if we could trust the those counting.
We Don’t.
Too much experience .
They(the slick sruga wearers more than anybody,of course, in connivance) preferred to build their psyche war to render more rish’us against the forces of the uncompromising religious!
I recall in one election, in Bat Yam alone 4 different arrests for vote tampering ,still did anyone feign a new claim for new election?!
While the Nuremberg Laws were against Jews in general, the Courts have special laws against charedim.
I happen to think Abutbol will win again. However, it is not true that this is a “chance to prove it” as previous posters imply. Reelections are never repeats of the original elections because factors change.
For example in this particular election, there was very poor voter turnout among many of the demographics that supported Eli Cohen (only about 30% of the Chilonim voted, for example), and very high voter turnout among Abutbol supporters (as much as 70% in many Chareidi areas). So the reelection gives Cohen the chance to convince all those people who stayed home to come out and vote, now that they know how close the election was. This is not fair to those who actually made the effort to come out and vote before they knew the results. On the other hand, there are definitely many people who were turned off by the Cohen campaign’s reaction to the elections, who may switch who they voted for.
Bottom line, “do-overs” don’t prove what happened the first time around — it is just a chance to try again.

Precisely the reason (as every deceitful anti charedi knows)
they decided for this (one and only)revote
Eichler and Maklev are just saying what many are thinking: The alleged cheating was not enought to change the results in this election, so why the reelection? If all instances of cheating would be treated the same, it might be based on law, but when a widely advertised anti- chareidi campaign results in a different judgement, there’s no democracy working here! Anybody here really thinks the judges are neutral?
Eichler seems unable to make a public statement on any policy disagreement without engaging in hyperoble, insults and generally vile comments. Me might be taken seriously if he learned to egage in civil diaglogue. Yes, there were clearly issues in the election and you have to rely upon the judiciary to sort out the facts. That was done here. To suggest all the judges are chareidi bashers simply shows the ignorance of those who make the statement (like Eichler)
