IDF officials in southern Israel have instructed farmers in Gaza border communities to remain at least one kilometer (6/10 mile) from the border as they fear there may be more sniper fire into Israel.

In addition, area commanders have informed all residents within 15 kilometers (9 miles) of the Gaza border to remain on alert to respond to sirens signaling rocket fire into the area.

Walla News adds that a senior IDF officer responding to the day’s events explains “The IDF is ready for an escalation in the south. I will not speak about the deployment of Patriot or Iron Dome batteries in the south. We believe there will be a measure of Hamas closing its eyes to the events regarding our response. We have so far struck six different targets.”
