Trump Believes He’d Win Against Cuomo If Flirtation About A Gubernatorial Bid Meets Reality

trumpDonald Trump believes that if — insisting he is considering — he were to launch a run for governor against incumbent Democrat Andrew Cuomo next year, he’d win.

In a radio interview with Fred Dicker on Talk1330, Mr. Trump said he would meet again with Republican officials after the holidays. “I think I’d win if I decide to do it, because I wouldn’t have to raise money,” he said.

According to The Daily News, Trump is set to meet with more than 30 state Republicans the second week of January. His top aide, Michael Cohen, insisted ‘The Donald’ really is considering a run and will decide by the end of January. “The interest in Donald Trump as the Republican candidate for governor has snowballed,” Cohen said.

Republican favorite Rob Astorino Trump called “certainly a big, big long shot,” considering Mr. Cuomo $30 million campaign war-chest. “Rob has to raise probably $30 million at least, and that’s a lot of money to raise and run a campaign,” Trump said.

Meanwhile, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, who is exploring a run for governor next year, has no interest in being Cuomo’s sacrificial lamb, state Conservative Party Michael Long told The Daily News.

“He told me several weeks ago if he doesn’t raise the money or can’t put an organization together, he won’t jump in the pool,” Long said. “He told me he wasn’t into a suicide mission.”

Long said it is still his goal to have a unified candidate with the Republicans to challenge Cuomo. “Hopefully, if Astorino runs, we can put it together,” he said.

  1. We now know for certain that Donboy is bluffing – he would not make so bold a prediction if he knew that there was a genuine possibility that his prediction could be tested and come out wrong. As for that thing on Donboy’s head, there is no predicting what that might do.

  2. Rockefeller and Harriman turned great wealth in being governor, but they already had distinguished careers in public service behind them before entering state politics.
A better analogy might be Lew Lehrman which led to the Cuomo dynasty. Trump has no ties in upstate, and would have a hard time rally the Republican base (which in New York is more geographic than ideological).

  3. Maybe reb trump can divert some of his investigaors he has in hawaii working on the active investigation into the president’s birth certificate and use them to see if its shayach for him to run for governer.
