Abbas Doesn’t Plan to Recognize Israel as the Jewish State

abasAccording to the head of the PA (Palestinian Authority) negotiating team, talks with Israel have broken off yet US Secretary of State John Kerry is hopeful to keep the momentum going.

Maariv reports that American officials are planning to arrive in the coming days in the hope of getting the talks back on track. Arab League official Muhmad Sabiah reveals that PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) and the Arab League have already agreed not to recognize Israel as a Jewish state as is being demanded. In addition, they will not accept any plan that involves the presence of even one IDF soldier in the Jordan Valley after an agreement is signed.

Chief PA negotiator Dr. Saeb Erekat is quoted by Maariv revealing talks with Israel have already broken off a number of weeks ago. There is an ongoing dialogue however between the PA and the United States and between the US and Israel, but there is nothing taking place between Israel and the PA.

The report quotes PA officials adding that there is no agreement that is about to be signed as the talks have collapsed some time ago.

  1. Why should Abbas recognize Israel as a Jewish state when government ministers, like Lapid, Bibi and others, don’t? The truth is, is it? How Jewish is it with all that chillul Shabbos and other actions against the Torah?

  2. It is only the Americans and the Israelis who believe the war is about boundaries and settlements. The Arabs object to being “second fiddle” to non-Muslims anywhere in the territory that has been the center of the Islamic world for more than a century. The only solution acceptable to the Arabs will be one in which Israel is no longer Jewish state (an autonomous, even well armed community might be acceptable – but not a state in which Arabs are second class citizens). The Arabs only possible peace party are the hareidim, and hareidim won’t be a majority until the end of the century.
