Bolivian President Evo Morales said a US businessman’s decision to flee the South American nation was tantamount to admitting to the money laundering crimes he was being investigated for.
Morales, in his first remarks since Jacob Ostreicher mysteriously departed Bolivia last week, didn’t say whether he’d seek the New York businessman’s extradition or retaliate against the United States for any role it may have played in his flight.
“From the moment he fled he’s a confessed delinquent because why would anyone escape if they didn’t commit a crime?” Morales told reporters on Monday.
Ostreicher hasn’t surfaced since he left Bolivia with actor Sean Penn’s support.
He was under house arrest when he fled as part of a three-year money laundering probe into a rice-growing venture he managed.

Welcome home Jacob, Baruch Habah! Thanks Sean, you are a real mentch!
Why would anyone escape if they didn’t commit a crime? Because he wasnt charged with one! Running away from rotting in prison or house arrest for a crime not committed and when the justice system is obviously corrupt is what anyone in his position must do. The president is super embarrassed and has to distort the whole affair to hide from it.

one second maybe because his family doesnt live there is why he escaped is that a possibility maybe because he ia free to live as a free person if he escapes did that ever cross his mind
just wondering…
Never has there been a clearer example of Mark Twain’s saying: “It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt”.
Why don’t we just arrest a few Bolivian diplomats and just hold them under house arrest with no charges?
Evo Morales is a thug in the Chavez mold. Hopefully he will leave this world and make it a better place.
