In Israel, rock-throwing attacks are not viewed as newsworthy unless chas v’sholom they end in tragedy. Unfortunately rock attacks against Jewish motorists are especially commonplace throughout Yehuda and Shomron, but they also occur in other areas like in and around Jerusalem’s Old City, in northern Israeli Arab areas and in southern Israel. Instead of stopping the attacks, the government during the post Oslo Agreement years adopted a different strategy, installing Lexan® rock-resistant windows. These windows are standard in MDA ambulances in the Jerusalem district as well as on some buses and utility company vehicles because they are all aware of just how commonplace the attacks are, especially in the predominately Arab areas of the eastern capital.
Baruch Hashem most motorists have never been victimized by a rock attack and they cannot imagine what this looks and feels like. The following video, although somewhat dated, attempts to give viewers an understanding of just how potentially fatal a stone-throwing attack can be.
