The question many talmidim of the Kiryat Shmona Hesder Yeshiva were asking themselves is why the davening times signs have been removed down. Signs that have been in place for about 15 years were removed. While some first thought this was the act of vandals, it was soon learned the signs were removed by order of Mayor Nissim Malka, who is reportedly angry at the rosh yeshiva who also serves as the chief rabbi of the city, HaGaon HaRav Tzefanya Drori Shlita.
The Kippa site reports the mayor is angry that the rav did not come out publically to support his election campaign in the recent elections and he has decided to remove the signs that inform visitors to the northern city of tefilla times.
Officials in the hesder yeshiva confirm the report. City Hall has not responded to a request for a statement.
Yeshiva officials are working to smooth out relations in the hope of having the signs put back to benefit the many visitors looking for a place to learn or a minyan.
