Want a quick glimpse of other communities celebrating Channukah? This is a recap of various news casts documenting Channukah observance around the globe. Chanukkah started at sundown Wednesdays night and will go through December 5.
“We all have our own struggles when we’re trying to do something better, sometimes comes hard. It’s easier to do, it’s easier to let it go. But we got to remember, that when we’re fighting for something good, we have enormous power,” said Yosef Sharfstein, Rabbi in Sioux City
This year’s Chanukkah is extremely rare. The next time it coincides with Thanksgiving will be in about 70,000 years.
“It’s definitely a once in a lifetime for many people. It’s a very special time because Hanukkah and Thanksgiving represent very similar values, similar backgrounds, thanking God for religious freedom — realizing our freedoms don’t come for granted and we have to thank God for them,” said Rabbi Mendy Greenberg of Bonita Springs.
