VIDEOS: “Lev Tahor” Accused Of Child Neglect

Fundamentalist Hasidic Group Lev Tahor Under Investigation For Alleged Child Neglect YouTubeLately the ‘Lev Tahor’ group has been quite prominent in the daily headlines.  Now they are at it again.

Their recent move to Quebec has placed the authorities on edge. Quebec social services has been investigating the group for alleged child neglect, including failure to provide proper healthcare, hygiene and education.

the ‘Lev Tahor’ group  insists it’s doing nothing illegal.
“We treating them very well, we went to doctors, to clinics and dentists in Ste-Agathe,” Mayer Rosner, a member of Lev Tahor, told CTV’s Peter Akman about the group’s treatment of children.

CTV’ reports that the group came to Canada in 2005 when its leader, Israeli-born rabbi Sholmo Elbarnes, was granted refugee status. He claimed he would be persecuted in Israel for his anti-Zionist stance. Elbarnes had earlier served a two-year sentence in the United States for kidnapping a child.

  1. Since most secular authorities consider any form of religion to be a form of perversion, and believe it is in the best interests of all children to be raised in a secular environmnet, we should be wary of any “investigation” by the seculars. To resolve problems, we should have our own social services agency, sanction and authorized by our gedolim, to investigate child abuse and take action as needed.

  2. That guy speaking in the 2nd video is Nachman Hell-branz the son of the cult leader, both are blood thirsty. I am glad hashem made it able to escape that dangerous institution.
What ever you have heard or read about the crulity towards the childreen is true and it’s just the tip of the ice berg.המבין יבין

  3. I have no idea if the allegations are true, but one thing is certain: These people have gone off the deep end of Yiddishkeit, and we should do what we can to put daylight between them and the mainstream Torah community, however defined.

They’re right about one thing. They are not welcome in EY – not necessarily because of their anti-Zionist stance, but because their lifestyle and way of dress defies gedolei Torah across the spectrum, including the Eidah haChareidis.

These Jews are heroes. They are fighting the corrupt Goyish system that dictates what we teach our children. The way these women dress should be a lesson to some of the so called “rebetzins” that go out with their “sheitels” and makeups on their faces, as if they are going to a fashion show.

  5. If you look good in the second video, the person that is sitting in the middle was just here in Lakewood few weeks ago, as a “meshulach” i saw him shnuring in shuls. I hope he wasn’t “shnuring” for the lev tahor community.

    to #4, very well said!

“fighting the corrupt Goyish system that dictates what we teach our children”

there is a difference between fighting the goyish system to teach Torah as most frum Jews know and so they send their kids to private schools. But being wacko like these perverse nut cases is going too far in the other extreme and as Rambam teaches us, we must see moderation in all things.

These poor misguided souls think being ‘frummer than thou’ is better than being moderate. They are wrong.

  7. 0:51 “two bedroom apartments”. For a family with boys and girls a two bedroom apartment is in and of itself squalor. It also annuls any claims concerning attachment to modesty.

  8. It seems we get similar sects every generation, in the days of the misna and the gemara there were sects like this one that chaza”l didn’t approve of and as far as I understood no real posek with clout (or gadol) approves of the derech these people chose.

Chesssed you seem to suggest you have inside knowledge, want to reveal more?

  9. Point 1 – The fact that they knowingly allow their daughters to be photographed and posted all over the net is a contradiction to the level of Tzinus that they “claim” to be upholding.

Point 2 – (directed towards prob6789) the real problem is not these extremist groups of Baaleh Teshuvas. They weren’t properly handed over Torah Hashkafas and most likely have guilt complexes over their past lives. The problem here are people like yourself (assuming your an FFB) who should know better. When ALL the gedolim across the spectrum (Sefardim, Ashkenazim, an Chassidim) are against these radical groups, who are you to stand up and defend these foolish BTs?! It is a Chutzpa Gedolah to stand up in defiance to the Gedolim!!! If everybody in Klal Yisrael stood up in protest, these misguided Jews would have no strength and their following would disintegrate! Think I’m wrong? Remember the Chabadniks in Australia that ate on 10 Teves? (http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/news/general/44545/video-chabad-rabbi-places-fanatics-in-cherem-for-making-seudas-yom-tov-on-10-teves.html)
Every faction from Chabad came out vehemently against them! Where is that group today? No-one hears of them anymore. Once they saw that NO-ONE is willing to support their views and that they were being ostracized from Klal Yisrael their group fell apart. We can do it here as well, but everybody has to understand that this group, Lav Tahor, and the others like them are following a path that is not based on TRUE Yirat Shimayim!
