Labor party leader Shelly Yacimovich telephoned party colleague Yitzchak Herzog early Friday morning, 19 Kislev 5774 to congratulate him.
With 69% of the votes in the party’s primary race counted it appears that Herzog succeeded in unseating her. Herzog has 58% of the vote as compared to Yacimovich’s 42%.
Herzog ran against Yacimovich in 2011 and lost, but it now appears this time he was successful in his bid to become the Labor party leader. The final results are expected later in the day.
Herzog has been serving as an MK since 2003. He has always been in the Labor party. He has served as a cabinet minister and held a number of portfolios including; Housing, Tourism, Welfare, and Diaspora Affairs.

Bad news for us. Yacimovitch criticized”haredi bashing” and was open to working with hareidim. Herzog is quite anagonistic to Torah and is a leader of themovement to establish a non-frum official Judaism (based on the American Conservative//Reform movements).
