The recent municipal elections in Yerushalayim have resulted in drastic life changes for Degel Hatorah’s Yitzchak Pindrus, who was removed from his leadership position.

After reaching agreement with City Hall, Yahadut Hatorah entered into the Jerusalem coalition, receiving two deputy mayor positions which were given to both factions. Yossi Deutsch will service on behalf of Agudas Yisrael while Degel decided Yitzhak Pindrus will rotate with Yisrael Kellerman. Kellerman will begin in the deputy post and Pindrus will serve the second half of the term. In addition, Eliezer Ruchberger will replace Pindrus as the party’s coalition chairman.

Pindrus of course pledges to continue serving the tzibur to the best of his abilities, adding “Five years ago I was called by Maran HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv ZT”L to serve as head of Degel Hatorah and serve in Jerusalem City Hall and as deputy mayor. I tried my best during the past five years to serve the residents of the city loyally and dedication in line with Maran’s expectations along with the expectations or Maranan V’Rabbanan Shlita”.

Pindrus adds that after serving the tzibur for 22 years, Degel has decided to make changes which have been approved by Maran the Rosh Yeshiva Shlita. He gave his bracha to Yisrael Kellerman, vowing to continue on behalf of the tzibur at large.
