B’chasdei Hashem the firebomb hurled at a window of the שערי רחמים ושמחה Shul in the French Hill area of Yerushalayim did not enter the building. The attack took place on motzei Shabbos Parshas Vayishlach 5774.

Neighbors realized what occurred and call the fire department. The fire was limited to some brush outside the shul and it was brought under control quickly. There was damage to an exterior wall of the shul and an adjoining building however. Police began combing the area in the hope of finding the assailant.

Neighborhood residents are certain the attack was nationalistically motivated and most likely carried out by Arabs who leave in the village bordering their neighborhood.
