After HaRav Yoram Abarjil was released from detention on Sunday, 14 Kislev 5774, a number of prominent rabbonim traveled to visit with the rosh yeshiva and mekubal including HaGaon HaRav Meir Mazuz Shlita, a member of Shas’ Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael. Also among the visitors were Shas leader Aryeh Deri and Shas MK Eli Yishai. The rabbonim wanted to give the rav a chizuk following his ordeal which include over a week imprisonment.

Rav Abarjil’s message; We must have great respect for Israel Police for doing its work. I am pained by the demonstrations which led to bitul torah among talmidim.

Rav Abarjil is alleged to be involved with the Shalom Domrani crime family. Domrani, who was arrested over a week ago along with a number of senior soldiers, was remanded again on Sunday. According to Israel Police, Rav Abarjil ordered a hit against Netivot’s Rabbi Yaakov Effergan for Rav Effergan’s decision to support an opposing candidate in the recent mayoral race.
