IDF soldiers Achiya Klein was injured in the terrorist bomb attack along the Gaza border on November 1, 2013. Among the wounded is Achiya, who lost his sight as a result of his proximity to the explosive device when it was detonated. He was the most seriously injured of the five soldiers and officers that were hospitalized following the blast.
B’chasdei Hashem, on Sunday, 14 Kislev 5774 the young soldier’s eyesight began returning to enable him to read numbers. The soldier is being transferred to the burn unit of Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer in Tel Aviv. He has other injuries but concerns surrounded his injured eyes, particularly his right eye.
Last week he began seeing images with his left eye and on Sunday, he was able to read numbers with the eye. Doctors report while he is only capable of reading the top row of the chart, the large fonts, this is a significant improvement and they are hopeful. His father, Yechezkel adds “I see many people are mispallel on his behalf and now we see what is happening.”
Achiya was transported to the trauma unit of Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva after the attack. A short time later he was transported to Sheba Medical Center to be closer to Kibbutz Kfar Etzion in Gush Etzion, his home.
