A 5-year-old boy received a powerful electric shock and burns while playing in playground on Devorah HaNevia Street in Bnei Brak on Friday night. It appears the injury was the result of touching an electric pole.

The child remained conscious and ran home. His family summoned Ichud Hatzalah and he was treated and transported to Tel Hashomer Hospital in moderate condition.

One of the EMTs on the scene, Ariel Peretz, explained on motzei Shabbos that when they arrived on the scene the burn marks were evident on the child’s palms. He stated the strong current resulted in some third degree burns.
