The motzei Shabbos protest on Bar Ilan Street in Yerushalayim was a stormy one and police detained at least 12 participants. The protest was against the extended remand of Rabbi YA, a prominent rosh yeshiva from Netivot.
Rav YA is involved in the case addressing alleged threats against Rabbi Yaakov Effergan. The case involved the crime family of Shalom Domrani.
After five days in custody Rabbi YA was remanded again and on Thursday 11 Kislev 5774, the prosecutor appealed a magistrate court decision to release him to house arrest. The Lod District Court accepted the appeal and the rav was ordered held over for another week.
Perhaps the large protest had an impact. Police on Sunday morning, 14 Kislev, announced the rav was being released during the afternoon hours. He was released to house arrest as the investigation continues.
His attorney, Menachem Rubinstein told the press “It is most unfortunate he was not released last Thursday as he should have and had to spend another Shabbos in detention.”

And no one can figure out why they view Charedim as primitive and uncivilized.

Here is what I am wondering: would you dream of commenting on the political dynamic in Denmark, or would that be out of your depth?
