‘Norway’s Proposed Ban on Bris Milah is Nothing More than Jewish Exclusion, Disguised as Protection of Human Rights’

brisNorway’s Children Ombudswoman Anne Lindboe’s call to ban non-medical circumcision of minors in Norway, as it is a violation of human rights, is charlatan and is not supported by any scientific facts said Rabbi Menachem Margolin, General Director of the European Jewish Association (EJA).

“Modern medicines, including non Jewish international health organizations overwhelmingly advocate circumcision and its contribution to preventing diesis. For three thousand years, Jews are being circumcised and grow up without any traumas. Therefore it is clear that this proposed ban is nothing more than Jewish exclusion, disguised as protection of human Rights” said Rabbi Margolin.

Rabbi Margolin said that Children Ombudswoman Anne Lindboe is “at best misinformed of the facts”, but he is worried that it is part of an upsurge of attacks made by alleged liberals toward anyone who thinks differently. Rabbi Margolin indicates there are only 7 circumcisions performed in Norway each year. The fact that Ombudswoman Lindboe chooses to occupy herself so eagerly in the matter, raises the fear that we are yet again witnessing Anti-Semitism disguised as protection of human rights.

  1. B”H for the 1st Amendment in the United States…those who easily claim that the NYC government is trying to ban bris milah should follow and compare the case in Norway as it develops.

  2. Lets not forget that it also hurts the mulsims (according to wikipedia Norway about 2-3% of the population was muslim in 2006), pain to the Jews in this case may just be a welcomed side effect.

(Though of course if one believes that lev malchut beyad hashem, this is just another wakeup call in the long series of wakeup calls for Jews to pick up and return to EY)
