Two Bnei Brak children have been infected with a very aggressive meningococcal infection that has left them in critical condition, fighting for their lives. The two attend the same daycare center. They were brought to the hospital on motzei Shabbos the eve of 7 Kislev 5774.
The first child arrived in the emergency room of Mayanei HaYeshua Hospital at 23:00 on motzei Shabbos. After being examined, the child was transferred to an intensive care unit in Schneider Children’s Hospital in Petach Tikvah. The child’s presented with a high fever and pallor.
Not too long after, a second child was brought to another Bnei Brak medical facility with similar symptoms. That child was also sent to Schneider, and from there he was sent to Tel Hashomer Hospital due to a shortage of beds.
The two children are being treated with aggressive antibiotic therapy in the hope of successfully combating the infection and stabilize their vital signs. Family members and others who may have come into contact with the children have received prophylactic therapy.
