Few Options for Obama to Fix Cancellations Mess

obcPresident Barack Obama says he’ll do everything he can to help people coping with health insurance cancellations. But experts say his options are limited, speaking legally and practically.

The latest political problem for Obama’s health care overhaul probably won’t get resolved quickly or cleanly.

The White House said Friday the president has asked his team to look at administrative fixes to help people whose plans are being cancelled.

But state regulators still hold sway over the insurance industry. And a president can’t just pick up the phone and order up Treasury checks for people suffering from sticker shock over their insurance premiums.

In a television interview Thursday, Obama apologized to people who are losing coverage and had counted on his assurances that they could keep their plan.

  1. there is more hope for a fool then for Obama to get help or give help

YOU are going down the drain just like the rest of this country & i’m watching it happen step by step.

the only way to save yourself is to flee this collapsing country & head to Israel before its too late. How many fled Germany when they were told to? & look what happened to them R”L don’t let your lives be destroyed by this collapsing country & save yourself ASAP

Hatzlacha to everyone-you’ll need it alot

  2. so he lied ” all politicians do” right? to that degree? and so shamelessly withoyt eegard to the consequences to so many people if it were bush would we ever hear the end of it(the question was rhetorical)

  3. So, Obama supporters, how’s that Hope and Change thing working out for you? Will you learn to vote in future elections with your brains? I doubt it.

  4. President Obama should stay the course. The Affordable Healthcare Act is a major step in the right direction. It may even make him rank as a great president.

Health insurance is NOT economically viable. People will not save money through an insurance plan or otherwise, for expensive health care the may or may not occur at old age. Some examples include heart surgery, cancer treatment, and “Alzheimers”. A triple bypass can run $400,000, that’s more than a house.

The only solution is national health coverage financed from general tax revenues. By the way it is altogether proper to tax unearned income at confiscatory rates.
