An Arab terrorist armed with a homemade gun opened fire at Israelis at Tapuach Junction in Shomron on Thursday evening, 5 Kislev 5774, close to 18:40. Baruch Hashem there was no fatalities or injuries.
The IDF spokesman’s statement read “a Palestinian opened fire at a civilian bus stop at Tapuach Junction near Ariel, using an improvised weapon.”
Soldiers protecting the major intersection and hitchhiking post responded appropriately, firing at the terrorist. Army officials confirm the lone gunman was killed, issuing a statement that it appears he was acting alone and not part of a terrorist organization.
Tapuach Junction is a major crossroad between the Gush Dan area and the Jordan Valley (east/west) and Jerusalem and Shechem (north/south) direction. It serves as the areas major hitchhiking post where thousands of riders pass through daily.
On April 30, 2013 Evyatar Borovsky HY”D, 31, of Yitzhar, was stabbed to death in a terror attack at the hitchhiking post at the Tapuach junction.
Shortly before 8 AM Evyatar Borovsky was waiting at the hitchhiking post to be picked up by Oshri Maimon, his close friend and director of the Ar El theater group, on his way to attend rehearsal for a new improvisation play. By the time Maimon arrived, Evyatar had been attacked from behind and stabbed to death by an Arab terrorist. The Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, Fatah’s military wing, has taken responsibility for the attack.
