President Barack Obama says he’s sorry Americans are losing health insurance plans he repeatedly said they could keep under his signature health care law. But the president stopped short of apologizing for making those promises in the first place.
“I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me,” he said in an interview Thursday with NBC News.
He added: “We’ve got to work hard to make sure that they know we hear them, and we are going to do everything we can to deal with folks who find themselves in a tough position as a consequence of this.”
For years, Obama and his advisers promised that Americans who liked their health insurance could keep it, even as the sweeping overhaul of the nation’s health insurance market took effect. However, the law mandated that insurance must meet certain standards, and that coverage falling short could not be sold except through a grandfathering process, meaning some policies were always expected to disappear.
At least 3.5 million Americans have been issued cancellations, but the exact number is unclear.

Reply to Mark Levin:
What does hitler ימח שמו וזכרו, and Obama have in common? They are both good speakers.
For the my GROUP policy was cancelled by ObamaDoesntCare. They stuck a law in there OUTLAWING certain small groups.
Chaleria!
Notice how he has now switched to we and we’re? No more I and me and I and I and I and me and me and I I I I I I I I I I I me me me me.
I think his apology is so lame because he knew this would happen and did it anyway, so what is he sorry about? This was his plan all along hoping to get to single payer as he himself said in the past.
Why aren’t there any mass demonstrations in Washington? Where’s the outrage? We need a few million people to march on his turf to show our anger. But instead we sit home and lament the situation.
Let’s not let him get away with this!
I am surprised at this point that he hasn’t blamed Bush for his lies.
And I’m sorry that you ever got elected to this sorry country… TWICE!!
No, I did not vote for you either time. But the fools who did are too dumb to ever know better. This past Tuesday I was at a library that happened to also be a polling site. I overheard a guard ‘aks’ a ‘typical’ New York resident if they came to vote. The citizen responded “No, I dood that already.”
No. 1: Your third paragraph is utterly wrong. Perhaps you are (a) merely inarticulate in what you said, (b) honestly wrong, or (c) lying. Please tell us the basis of the information set forth in your third paragraph, or you will leave us with the impression that clause (c) of the preceding sentence is correct.
No. 6: I am one of your fools who voted for Mr. Obama, twice, and I am glad I dood. If you persistently think that people who disagree with you are too dumb to know better, if you often fail to understand the reasoning of people who disagree with you, you could be surprised to learn that it is you is too dumb to know better.
And why is everyone so surprised that Mr. Obama lied about healthcare. After all, he lied about his birthplace, his religion, and his belief in American free enterprise. Maybe it is yourselves whom you should doubt.
And, speaking of American free enterprise, do you realize that the foundation of Obamacare is a plan developed 20 years ago by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative Washington think-tank?
