The Sephardic Community Federation delivered a surprising endorsement that could determine the race for the 48th Council District. In an email sent to leaders and members of the community, Monday afternoon, the Executive Board recommended to vote for the Republican candidate David Storobin.
“David is a rare elected official who will fight to lower taxes, fines and fees and support yeshivas,” the email read.
The Sephardic Community Federation is believed to have a voting bloc of at least 1,500 votes, in what could become the margin of victory in a race that seems to be the only contested election in Brooklyn.
The move deals a serious blow to the campaign of Chaim Deutsch who hoped to unite the Jewish community in the District behind his canddiacy, relying on a split in the Russian community’s vote.

A shocking endorsement of an unproven candidate who has no accomplishments in government – only promises, over a frum Jew who has a solid record of helping our community and all others who saught his help.
Knowing Chaim, I’m certain that he will treat the Sefardic community well once elected despite the endorsement of Starobin.
The Sephardic community is larger than 1500 voters and certainly way too educated to not see past such a ridiculous endorsement. This is a community who over the years has availed themselves of Chaim’s assistance in all areas- crime related and also in the domestic violence field. They clearly understand who is a talker and who is a “doer”. If this minority of the Sephardic community wants to commit political suicide, they are just that – a minority! The “majority” of the community will vote wisely and with the health, welfare and safety of their families forefront in their minds. They undoubtedly will vote by far for the best candidate -Chaim Deutsch!
David has the votes.
WHOAH!!! I am disgusted by the blatant back stabbing of the SCF. How dare they?? After everything that Chaim has done for the Sefardic Community???
SHAME ON THEM!!! It can’t even be put into words.
Before anyone follows the suggestion made by this endorsement, please remember that the republicans have NO POWER as a minority and voting for someone who has made sooo many promises but has nothing to show for it, is a wasted vote.
Chaim had, still has and will continue to have a PROVEN record of action. He’s a roll-up-the-sleeves kinda guy.
For all who know him, please speak up. The future of OUR (your and mine) community is at stake.
I’m not sure who’s exactly federation (I know David Greenfield is good with them) but I looked thru Chaim donations which is online I saw a lot of sefardim which makes me wonder one example famous sefardi faimly

Chaim has a long. Proven track record. He will be good for the entire Jewish community, including the Sephardic community. We need achdus, not fragmentation
You know I know Greenfield is behind this site and making you block that previous post….just as long as he knows people out there know what’s behind all this…like I said before, there is hashem looking down on all of us
It’s a disgrace to the community to turn their backs on a person who’s been there for over 20 yrs responding to hachnosos sefer torahs , missing children , robberies , safety issues in our community etc etc etc everyone can add in the blanks what he had done for them without being in the news keeping matters private,
I’ll vote for chaim…
I got over 45 votes for chaim….
The only thing they did now with endorsing strobin, is loosing their own support…..
Maybe strobin will win but they lose….
Hey, doesn’t Flatbush shmira have a nice Sefardic membership??
Just be thinking out loud…
