The United Williamsburg Jewish Communities endorsed Bill de Blasio today. Members of these communities, including Satmar, Pupa, Viznitz, Vein, Tzehillm, Klausenberg as well as others, comprise thousands of voters in Brooklyn. The leadership of the community has thrown their support to Bill de Blasio, citing his longstanding relationship with the community and his plans for expanded education and affordable housing for the City.
YWN was the first to report that the Zalis were set to endorse Mr. de Blasio.
“We’ve known Bill de Blasio since before he was a Councilman and he has been a friend and ally of the Jewish community every step of the way. Whether it was fighting to preserve child care vouchers, expand affordable housing, or protect health care, Bill is someone who fought for what was important and we are thrilled to support him,” said Rabbi David Niederman, leader of the United Williamsburg Jewish Communities.
The ad (full of typos) as it appeared in Satmar’s weekly – ‘Der Yid’:
“I am honored to have the support of the Satmar community, as well as so many others,” said de Blasio. “I plan to work together with them as Mayor to ensure every New Yorker in every borough has access to quality education, housing, and healthcare. The orthodox Jewish community is an important part of the rich, cultural diversity in New York City, and I look forward to working with them as well as well as religious groups all over the city to make sure they have a fair and accessible City Hall.”

Welfare walks and no one..,. U no the rest
once there is money involved , everything become kosher , no matter what Bill de Blasio thinks about jews.
What about MBP?
I find it distasteful to refer to the Satmar Chassidim by a nickname of their Rebbe. Same for the followers of Rav Aharon of Satmar who seem to be called Aharonim. Not nice! Just my opinion.
How can they take monies from the Zionistic American government? that supports Israel? a bit hypocritical!!!
They probably don’t remember how people were afraid to walk the streets of NYC on halloween under Dinkins…
#5 Let me ask you, since you are such an anti-Satmar zionist, then I am sure that you are not allowing anybody close to you avail themselves of any of the Satmar chesed organizations like Bikur Cholim, for example!
When the Satmar Rebbe zt”l came out so strongly against taking money from the ‘medina’ for his moisdos, he foresaw exactly what is happening in EY today. The government is holding all the strings, and insisting on setting the curriculum in the schools and Yeshivas. They hate ALL the chareidim and will do anything to assimilate them into the secular world.
Satmar is not beholden to any of that.
The Rebbe never had such concerns about the American government.
