The Security Cabinet on Thursday, 27 Cheshvan 5774, unanimously decided to transfer budget surpluses in the amount of 2.75 billion NIS to the defense budget, in continuation of its May 2013 decision.

It was also decided to establish a public committee to examine all aspects of the defense budget. Prime Minister’s Office Director General Harel Locker will chair a team on hastening the evacuation of IDF bases in the center of the country in order to clear land for building in high-demand areas.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said, “We unanimously passed a decision that balances between the major security challenges facing the State of Israel and the need to continue responsibly piloting the Israeli economy in the face of the global economic crisis.”
