The Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act, passed in March 2010, has been a controversial issue at the center of US President Obama’s term in office. It mandates that individuals who are not covered by employer or government-sponsored insurance must maintain minimal insurance coverage. On March 26, 2012, the US Supreme Court began 3 days of oral arguments to determine the constitutionality of Obama’s health care reform. On June 28, the Supreme Court upheld the law.
