Citing his leadership and commitment to fighting crime and standing up for justice, U.S. Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand today strongly endorsed Democrat Ken Thompson for Brooklyn District Attorney. On the heels of Thompson’s endorsement from the New York Times, today’s major announcement from New York’s junior Senator follows Ken Thompson’s historic 11-point victory in the Democratic primary for Brooklyn District Attorney, when he became the first African-American to win the nomination and the first candidate to unseat an incumbent Brooklyn D.A. in over 100 years.
“Ken Thompson is hands down the best candidate for Brooklyn District Attorney,” said Senator Gillibrand. “Ken’s record as a federal prosecutor is one of standing up for justice and the voiceless. His priorities – preventing gun violence and keeping our communities safe – are Brooklyn’s priorities, and Ken’s record shows that he’ll move New York City forward. I am proud to endorse Ken Thompson as our next District Attorney.”
“I’m so proud to be endorsed by Kirsten Gillibrand, whose tireless advocacy for the people of New York has made her a standout leader in the Senate,” said former federal prosecutor and Democratic nominee for District Attorney Ken Thompson. “I look forward to working with Senator Gillibrand to make our streets safe from crime and ensure all New Yorkers have a champion fighting for justice. Together, we are united in restoring integrity to our broken criminal justice system.”
