Statement By David Storobin On Deutsch’s Refusal To Debate

stroThe following is a statement by the campaign of David Storobin, candidate for the 48th City Council District:

“David Storobin had accepted the gracious offer by Yeshiva World News to host a debate over a week ago. He accepted the invitation almost immediately upon receiving the invitation. As this has now been a week, and we have not heard back, we can only ask why the Deutsch campaign has not agreed to debate as well? When we accepted the offer, we let it be known that any night was ok to debate. Why would a person asking for the vote of a community not want to go before them and explain their position on the pertinent issues of the community?”

The Deutsch campaign has not yet responded to a request for a comment.

  1. Sorry, Dave. The frontrunner never let’s the weaker candidate back in the election by debating him right before the elections. Storobin’s typical political whining – which is why we really have to make sure Deutsch gets elected.

  2. This is one of the funniest statements I ever seen in my life. Storobin wants to talk about issues with Chaim Deutsch who works for community and with community for 22 years. Or Storobin wants to tell people about his trip to Israel when he took pictures in uniform and lied that it was requested by Israeli government? Or probably he wants to remind us about his trip to Guantanamo where went to see how “poor terrorists” are treated. Or maybe he is willing to tell us how hard he worked after hurricane Sandy looking for photo-ops and TV cameras. I also believe he wants to inform us how he spent taxpayers dollars paying someone who at the same time works for another elected official campaign. Anything else? It seems likes Storobin wants to invite all of us to a comedy show. I will go for sure after election. cedar is right, we have to make sure that Chaim is elected.

  3. Why would Deutsch want to appear on the same stage as Storobin and give him the visibility and legitimacy he is desperately seeking. Its usually the desperate candidate who wants more debates and the confident and leading candidate who would rather not risk losing his/her lead

  4. What is Deutsch afraid of?! If he, Deutsch, is truly the stronger candidate then he has nothing to lose by standing up to a debate.

Beside, this is not about Deutsch, this is about our community, and we deserve to hear from the candidates directly. What is Chaim thinking?!

  5. Zalman7, you do not know what is Chaim thinking? Where were you for 22 years? BTW, does anyone know that Storobin people tell Russians all around Brighton Beach not to vote for Hasidic Jew? I got a phone call from my aunt today. Interesting.

  6. Storobin’s ad on ywn lists the bills he’s sponsored while he was in the senate. None passed so I’m not sure what he’s showing us. Chaim didn’t sponsor bills over the last 22 years. He rolled up his sleeves and actually made a difference.

  7. What’s the point of another debate? They’ve had at least 3 together – this is a local election, it’s about who “rolls up their sleeves” (To quote Manishma), not who likes to yap into a microphone about how awesome he is

  8. If it isn’t clear yet that CHAIM is the ONLY reputable and qualified candidate, I’m not sure when it will be…

Chaim has done (undeniably on record) more for the greater Flatbush community than any other askan has in history.

Most importantly, he didn’t and still doesn’t go around seeking photo ops like some of the more desperate candidates. When (not if) he is iy”H elected, he will be lauded as the most effective council member in recent times.

Constituents of the 48th, don’t jeopardize your community, you all know who the RIGHT candidate is. Ask any Rov.
