The problems of technology that are bedeviling Jewish communities around the world pose a particular problem when bachurim are sent off to learn in Eretz Yisrael. But new innovative systems, described in an article in this week’s Ami Magazine, are helping to make certain that bachurim’s experiences involve growth in Torah and not, chalilah, the opposite. Over the last two years, Mir-Yerushalayim, the largest yeshiva in Eretz Yisrael, has developed an environment for its bachurim that gives them the benefits of a small yeshiva with the unique surroundings and resources of the Mir. And smaller initiatives are bringing similar benefits to bachurim in other yeshivos. The Ami article looks at how parents can use these resources and others to make sure that their sons’ behavior and well-being are on track even when they are thousands of miles away.
