Election News Briefs from Israel (14:00-18:00)


vote14:00: Nationwide voter turnout reported to be low, 16.3%.

14:13: Two Hadera residents in their 20s were arrested after they got into a brawl at city polling station.

15:00: Shas concerns in Beit Shemesh as reports signal most of the 32% of the city’s eligible voters who already voted are not from the chareidi sector.

15:49: Barkat campaign workers are concerned with the low voter turnout in the capital. At 14:00, officials reported a 10% voter turnout in the capital. Polls in most area of the country close at 22:00.

15:55: Election officials halted the 38 Ushiskin Street polling station in Jerusalem after it was realized the ballot slips for Moshe Leon were taken. This is station 172. The Likud Party slips for city council were flipped on their blank/reverse side.

16:00: MK Eichler when he voted: Whoever does not vote Gimmel will have to cry at protests, shout at the walls and battle in the streets.

16:15: Interior Minister Gideon Saar reports nationwide voter turnout at 16:00 was 22.4%.

16:25: Northern district police arrested two people at a Sakhnin polling station who got into a brawl.

17:02: Candidate Moshe Leon met with Yisrael Beitenu leader Avigdor Lieberman to update him on the elections.

17:20: Haifa election chief Yossi Chacham reports fraudulent ballot slips have been found in ten of the city’s polling stations. He ordered the vote counters to save these ballots on the side so a determination can be made after the legitimate ballots have been counted.

17:22: Jerusalem now reporting voter turnout at 16:30 was 17.5%.

17:45 Voter turnout at 17:00: 18% in Yerushalayim, 56% in Elad and 35.9% in Beit Shemesh.
