Lhota Releases Hard-Hitting Web Ad Of Democrats Questioning De Blasio’s Integrity

Christine Quinn, Anthony Weiner, Bill Thompson, John Liu, Bill de BlasioAhead of the second televised debate, Republican mayoral candidate joe Lhota is releasing his arsenal of attacks against Frontrunner Bill de Blasio, in an attempt to make a dent in the Democrat’s solid lead.

Highlighting Mr. de Blasio’s record of flip-flopping on crucial issues and pandering to each group he speaks to, the Lhota campaign released a new web ad today. Entitled “Democrats Agree,” the ad compiles statements by Mr. De Blasio’s Democratic colleagues and former rivals in the Democratic primaries, which didn’t help them tooth in overcoming his then growing lead.

“Stop lying to the people of New York City!” demands Bill Thompson, who also asks, “Will the real Bill de Blasio please stand up?” John Liu predicts. “Under Bill de Blasio, we won’t have a tale of two cities, but a city of two tales; that’s the problem here,” and Christine Quinn notes “This is another case of Bill speaking out of two sides of his mouth.”

“New Yorkers deserve a mayor they can trust. They might not agree with every decision a mayor makes, but they shouldn’t have to worry they’re being lied to. As the ad showcases, that’s simply not the case with Mr. de Blasio,” said Jessica Proud, campaign spokeswoman.

The ad, one of many, may be a nothing to lose strategy for Mr. Lhota as he seeks to close the gap with 15 days to go. But it might turn out to be a risky path, as Mr. De Blasio might hit back with comments by Lhota’s Republican rivals, who have not yet endorsed him.
