Thirty-two years ago yesterday, Susan Rosenberg, then a member of the Weather Underground terrorist group, took part in a heist that left two police officers and a security guard dead in Nyack.
Three years later, she was arrested carrying nearly half a ton of illegal explosives and firearms and sentenced to 58 years in prison.
On Bill Clinton’s last day in office, he pardoned Susan Rosenberg, earning widespread bipartisan condemnation, including from Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Sen. Chuck Schumer.
Today, the day after the anniversary of Susan Rosenberg’s brutal crime, Bill Clinton is campaigning in Nyack, the town in which these crimes occurred, to help raise money for Democrat County Executive candidate David Fried.
“If David Fried cared about the people of Rockland County, he wouldn’t be campaigning with the President who pardoned a terrorist who was complicit in the murder of three Rockland residents,” said NYGOP spokesman David Laska.
“There was no excuse for Bill Clinton to pardon Susan Rosenberg and there’s no excuse for him to campaign in the town in which she committed those heinous acts, let alone the day after their anniversary. This is a sad example of putting partisan politics over people.”

1. She was never convicted of having been involved in any crimes resulting in anyone being killed. She was convicted for illegal possession of weapons and explosives and her sentence was commuted after 16 years (the equivalent of parole – she’s still considered a ex-felon for legal purposes) – she was never pardoned (the equivalent of saying she should have been acquitted).
2. In the New York Republicans focus on attacking a retired Democrat for attending a fundraiser, it might explain how in recent years the Republicans have slipped from being largely in control of state government to be at best token opposition. They should be discussing real issues, not what to most voters is a footnote to ancient history.
Politics as usual. Naarish of the GOP to make an issue of this. The real shanda is Clinton’s failure to pardon Jonathan Pollard but to do so for someone involved in murder.
Let’s not forget about the MAJOR connection between this terrorist organization and your dear president, Barack Hussein Obama.
Number 1 it was a plea bargain that lowered her crimes but he also pardon the bomber of FLAN there bomb factory in east Harlem killed a young Hispanic police officer.
There pardon was to warn votes for his wife
Just as the pardon hf gave to square for ripping off billions of federal funds.
Sorry but this isn’t politics it’s reminding people of the truth
This is defamatory to print that Susan Rosenberg was ever connected to the killing of anyone. She has always been a community advocate and teacher of the highest quality. Not a lot of people teach in public schools who could make more money elsewhere, Susan is the best professor many of us ever had. What are you doing to help youth not of your own group? Susan Rosenberg loves her neighbor, not just her own relatives.
