For members of Degel Hatorah who thought the competing Bnei Torah party was going to drop out of the race before the 18 Cheshvan 5774 elections, they now understand this is a most unlikely scenario.
A kenos chizuk was held on Thursday, 17 Cheshvan in the home of HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach Shlita and the rav before Shabbos released a letter instructing the tzibur to vote for the Bnei Torah party.
The rav speaks about those “brothers” who are “raising a hand against all that is holy,” referring to gezeiros against yeshivos. He calls on the tzibur to vote on Election Day and to cast a ballot for his party.
Bnei Torah is a split-off from the Litvish Degel Hatorah party. Many predict Bnei Torah will not earn a seat in most cities but will result in Degel losing a mandate due to the split vote.

My rav told me that Rav Soloveitchik z’tz’l would defer to Rav Shlomo Zalman’s halachic opinions.
