Rosh Yeshivat Porat Yosef HaGaon HaRav Shalom Cohen is in the news again, this time calling for the closure of Shas-affiliated Kol Berama Radio. The rav stated the station began well, with words of Torah and the like. However today he feels the station has taken a change for the worse following the petira of Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L.
“The station has lately been like lamentations recited on Tisha B’Av, speaking out against Shas and doing everything to discredit and vilify Shas at every given opportunity. It must be shut down” Rav Cohen stated during a weekly shiur. The rav stated the station broadcasts lies against Shas.
Kol Berama released a statement “We were shocked to hear the words of HaGaon HaRav Shalom Cohen about the station. The rav stated we are working against Shas. Associates of the rav have indicated the rav listened to election commercials which contain content that is opposed to Shas”.
It is likely that Rav Cohen was really referring to broadcast content that included criticism of the party’s ousting and shunning of former party leader Eli Yishai, who was at the helm of the party for 14 years. After the petira of Maran, Yishai was ousted by those in control, those who side with Deri, and Rav Cohen is a counted among them.

nobody does more harm to shas then rav cohen when he says extreme things on radio
What a pity. When the cats away the mice play 🙁 . They seem to forget there is a G-D in heaven in charge !!!!
I guess the Dibs get a different version of kol barama than what we get in the USA.

Perhaps the time has come to take the microphone away from R’ Cohen and to let him return to the anonymity he enjoyed until recently?
