Hidden Cameras Found On 7 LIRR Vending Machines


lirrMetropolitan Transit Authority Police are investigating after tiny hidden cameras were found on seven Long Island Rail Road ticket vending machines at four locations in Queens and Nassau counties.

MTA Police Chief Michael Coan said Friday that the cameras may be part of a credit and debit card scam. He urged customers who purchased rail tickets from a LIRR stations using cards to check with their bank or credit card company for any unauthorized activity.

The cameras were found on machines in Bayside, Great Neck, Merillon Avenue and Greenvale.

Coan says the cameras were designed to look like part of the machine. They were found on the underside of a black metal strip placed across the top of the machine with some kind of adhesive.
