[COMMUNICATED CONTENT] Raising children with special needs presents a family with numerous opportunities, experiences and challenges that are unique to their life. For close to 20 years, Yedei Chesed has provided a helping hand in that journey. Comprised of service coordinators, social workers, day habilitation instructors, respite coordinators and many other skilled individuals, Yedei Chesed is there every step of the way to assist all members of the family. Located in Monsey, NY, we serve OPWDD eligible individuals residing throughout Rockland and OrangeCounty.
Starting with Step Forward, our Early Intervention department, and continuing through Day Habilitation and Pre-Vocational Training, Yedei Chesed strives to provide client centered services to all participants. Additional programming such as respite programs, support groups and activities, chol hamoed events for the family, volunteer respite, counseling and weekend retreats round out our services to our clients and their families.
Two of the main needs that we hear from parents is their desire to learn about new ways to help their child and the strength and information that they gain from networking with fellow parents. Today’s proactive parent strives to be up-to-date with the services available for them and their child. Combined with the advice parents receive from one another because “they have been there, done that” they are able to navigate their challenging journey.
Based on these two important factors, Yedei Chesed is pleased to announce our first Special Needs Symposium. The event features numerous seminars from experts in their field on a variety of topics including transitioning to managed care, creating a special needs trust, technology enabled supports, and behavior management. In addition to these important topics, parents will receive chizuk and tips from therapists and rabbonim on emunah, tefillah, the tricky balance between the special needs child and themselves, and the benefits one can receive from counseling. Additionally, parents will have ample networking opportunities where they can gain more valuable information.
As a parent of a child with special needs, we understand that your time is valuable and limited. This unique event provides you with all of the things you are looking for – information, resources, chizuk and networking – in one exceptional event. Opportunities for private swimming, other special activities and delicious meals served by Glauber’s Catering add a touch of vacation to this distinctive symposium. The event will run from 12:00 pm on Sunday until 8:45 pm on Monday evening. Hotel accommodations, gourmet meals and admission to all seminars and activities are included in the event price of $325 per couple. Come and join us October 27 – 28, 2013 for a truly remarkable experience.
