Earlier this week YWN-ISRAEL reported the 5774 budget for Israel’ higher education was approved, citing the number of students seeking to earn a BA and a MA.
The Central Bureau of Statistics has released figures pertaining to the number chareidim studying for an academic degree in 5773. That number is 7,300, most of whom are females, 5000.
Of the total number of chareidi students, 900 studied in universities, 1,100 in Open University and 5,300 in colleges. Most of the students were studying education, including a teaching certificate (29%), which is significantly higher than the number among the general higher education population (13.5%). Business management attracted 19% of the chareidim as opposed to 10% in the non-chareidi population. 17% of the chareidim opted for social science, with the majority involved in a social work degree.

Nice, keep it up. I’m a modern orthodox software salesguy with an accounting degree. Out of 8 people on my sales team, 2 have math majors, 1 accounting, 1 technology, i graduated University of Chicago-Ivy league, one speaks three languages. The fact that a man cannot perform a simple spreadsheet is scary. If someone wants to learn, I will teach him for free.
