Moshe Leon, a candidate in the Jerusalem mayor race was interviewed by Walla News. He explains that while he was a resident of Givatayim, he is totally involved in the city and for the past 15 years, Jerusalem has been his life.
Leon was stern in his rejection of allegations that his change of address is bogus and in essence, he is still a member of the Givatayim community. He said that he is no one’s pawn and he has moved to the capital, he is qualified for the job, and has a wealth of service in the public sector.
Leon states he is being judged by a double standard and there is no reason to question his residency and/or his qualifications.
Leon acknowledged he is pleased with Shas’ support, speaking of the great loss to Am Yisrael, the petira of the gadol hador. He stated he maintained a good relationship with Maran over the years and merited receiving a bracha for him on numerous occasions.
Regarding this week’s announcement from Shas’ Moetzas Gedolei Hatorah, Leon stated anyone wishing to know what prompted this should speak to the rabbonim, not him. He insists that he did not make any promises to Shas to receive the support of the rabbinical forum and anyone who has followed his political career can vouch for the fact he does not work this way, they are familiar with his level of integrity. In addition, he seeks to reassure Jerusalem residents that Shas’ support is not in any way bad for the non-frum residents for he has and will always serve the people, and this includes all walks of life.
Finally, permitted to stop defending himself, Leon begins to address the issues. He tells his interviewer that despite the encouraging statements from Mayor Barkat, housing prices in the capital continue to climb. He points to the sanitation in the city to highlight the failures, the filthy streets and the decline in the overall appearance of the capital. He takes the opportunity to point out to viewers that even his interviewer moved out of the capital, one of many who had enough.
While Likud Endorses you, PM Netanyahu Doesn’t Support You
I see in recent weeks how busy he is and he hasn’t had time to address this.
Please, get serious!
I know the prime minister well. I was the director general of the Prime Minister’s Office and work with the prime minister hand-in-hand and when the time comes his voice will be heard. He is well acquainted with my work and abilities.
A few questions to test your knowledge on the capital
Edison Theater – where is it?
Sure I know it. It is in Jerusalem, in the center (Appeared he really did not know where it was once upon a time)
What movie theaters operate on Shabbos?
As far as I know there are none open on Shabbos (there are a few)
Mifgash HaSheikh Restaurant?
This is not fair. What is the relevance of such questions? Bottom line I know the capital and have the credentials to run a city, this city, and this will not determine if I can run the city as voters wish. I am quite certain there are aspects of the city that I know that are foreign for you. Please, this is pointless.

let’s hope he loses big. We don’t need him and religious loonies running the city. Barkat is doing a good job.
