Lhota Says He’ll Come From Behind Once He Finds de Blasio Face To Face

After a new poll showed him down a whopping 50 points, Republican mayoral candidate Joe Lhota insisted Thursday he could still catch up with rival Bill de Blasio, who he called a “political hack.”

“This race will get closer and closer over the next two weeks,” Lhota told reporters in Queens. “I am confident that I will come from behind.”

“Find Bill de Blasio,” he suggested. “Lets start talking about the issues here. Lets go mano a mano. Lets make sure we know where everybody stands…and we talk about who’s got the background and the capability of being mayor on day one. I win hands down on every single equation.”

“Finding Bill reminds me of a little book I used to read my daughter – Where’s Waldo,” he added. “He needs to come out. He needs to come out and debate the issues, and he needs to make sure that we all know where he stands.”

It’s unclear though if Mr. Lhota would be able to achieve that goal, since Mr. de Blasio has limited his public appearances, since clinching the Democratic nomination, and has committed himself to only three debates.

  1. Mr. Bloomberg/Lhota FYI Quine also said she will come from behind and she lost big time so please don’t keep your expatations to high. LHOTA has NO CHANCE! Ppl of NY are just sick and tired of Bloomberg years! Vote Bill de Blasio.

  2. LhotaBllomber2013:

Bill de Blasio has more in common with Bloomberg than Lhota
(except for fiscal and policing issues).

A better metaphor: In 1989, NYC voters were already “sick and tired” of Ed Koch (a self-described ‘sane liberal’ – in other words ‘independent’) so they voted for an African American who played up the liberal playbook of class warfare and pandering to the minorities that diversify the city. The Republican, an effective leader and prosecutor, stood no chance in the most liberal city in the United States.

In the words of Ed Koch: “The people have spoken … and they must be punished.”

We were punished once and we lost four years. Hopefully, NYC learned the lesson.

  3. Bloomberg was endorsed because he was throwing money around some leaders and we suffered 4 more years. Lhota keeps saying in public that he will continue Bloomberg policy’s regarding fines on small business and matzizah b’pah..we are done with Bloomberg and his policies.
