The weeks prior to submitting the final lists in the northern city were not calm ones. Primary elections never took place, people were ousted and disharmony reigned.
Shuki Ochana is running for mayor along with Ilan Shochat, Shlomo Hadad and Rami Saban. It is expected that in the coming days, the ‘Tet’ ( ט) list along with the general chassidish and dati leumi communities will announce their support for Shuki Ochana, the Likud candidate.
Shas is viewed as sitting on the fence and is expected to announce something in the near future as the election is rapidly approaching, 18 Marcheshvan 5774.
The second person on the Ochana list is former Mayor Yishai Maimon, followed by Vladimir Weissman. Yisrael Beitenu is backing Ilan Shochat’s list.
The Tet list is the united Degel Hatorah and chassidish list in the city, headed by Omer Emanuel Levi, with the latter known an askan who has been involved in public life and a former Shas affiliated politician.
Moshe Ochayon heads the Chabad list and Binyamin Ben-Tovim heads the Shas list.
