Ministry of Agriculture inspectors apprehended two shipments of poultry being transported in northern Israel. The two shipments were moving in unrefrigerated vehicles and substandard conditions, moving a total of 1.5 tons of poultry intended for distribution in northern region areas.

An Akko resident was arrested as he was driving out of Shfaram with one of the shipments. He told inspectors that he was carrying a small quantity of poultry and showed documentation for that small shipment. However, inspectors quickly learned there was more to the story. He was transporting a half ton of poultry which was smuggled without required permits, shipping manifests, refrigeration or minimal standards.

At Megiddo Junction, inspectors stopped another vehicle, being driven by a resident of Um el-Fahm. The poultry being transported was unfit for human consumption. He told inspectors the meat originated in Kafr Kana. He explains the chicken and parts was intended for an Um el-Fahm butcher but after seeing it he refused the shipment.

All of the confiscated poultry were confiscated and destroyed, B”H before reaching an Israeli marketplace.
