A member of the Jerusalem Election Committee has turned to the man responsible for the Jerusalem municipal elections, Moti Berkowitz, seeking to disqualify the candidacy of the chareidi, Likud/Beitenu candidate, Moshe Leon. The election committee member feels that while Leon has legally changed his address, in fact, he has not moved his life to the capital and therefore he should not be permitted to run. The same request was made regarding the candidacy of Moti Amsellem, who is running on the same list for a slot on the city council, the Likud/Beitenu list.
Election committee member Moti Gamish writes these two candidates are not in compliance with paragraph 7 (a)(3) of the election law, which demands an election candidate is a resident of the municipality in which he seeks office. In the case of Leon, Gamish explains the candidate’s children continue their schooling in their home community, Givatayim. He adds that Leon made no effort to hide the fact that he spent the Yomim Tovim in Givatayim, the city in which he pays arnona property tax.
This is true regarding the number two man on Leon’s list as well, Gamish reports. He explains that Amsellem continues to reside in Maale Adumim, where he home is and where his children attend school.
Gamish in his letter to Berkowitz states the two candidates should be disqualified for their failure in changing their residence in compliance with election law.

Good point, if you don’t live in the city how can you run for candidacy?
However, where your children are currently in school should have no bearing on whether you can run for mayor, for are the children to be made to change schools on the chance that their father may become mayor? If their father becomes mayor, then changing schools will become inevitable, but before that becomes a certainty, uprooting the children from their circle of friends is not advisable.
Simple you own(perhaps even rent) a house\apt and pay property taxes like Hilary Clinton did to run for new york
